Vermette cards a 5-under 67 to sit in T1 at Taco Bell Natchez Classic

(Natchez, MS) – The third round of the Taco Bell Natchez Classic has finished and the women showed no hesitation attacking greens and pins at Beau Pre Country Club. With almost no wind throughout the day, players were able to dial in yardages leaving room for many circles on their card.

Claire Vermette (St. Petersburg, FL) was among those who took advantage of the stagnant air and turned in a 5-under 67 for the third round. Vermette started the day with birdie-ing three out of her first four holes and then put a circle down for her sixth hole for a bogey-free four- under front nine.

“I started off pretty hot on the first five holes. I had tap-ins and I also lipped out for a hole-in-one on hole four, so I was just really hitting the ball well and attacking the pins,” said Vermette. “And then for the rest of the day I was just hitting fairways and hitting greens, very steady and trying to keep calm and hit some good putts, hoping some would drop.”

With Vermette’s 5-under score, she moved up three spots on the leaderboard to sit in T1 with Erika Smith (Orlando, FL), who turned in a 2-under, 70 heading into the final round.

The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with a double - tee start at Beau Pre Country Club, with players being paired by score and the leaders teeing off last. The field will be competing for their share of a $41,500 purse, with $10,000 going to the winner. Entrance to the Taco Bell Natchez Classic is free to the public and we look forward to seeing you!
